Our Story

History of Bearse Farm

Bearse Farm dates back to the 17th century, with records placing it among the oldest properties in the area. Originally serving as a tollbooth, the farmstead collected dues from drovers and travellers passing through the Forest of Dean.

The farm is surrounded by Ancient Woodland and sits adjacent to land designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), supporting rare species and habitats. Today the farm is a working family property, welcoming visitors who want to experience the peace, history and natural beauty of this remarkable corner of Gloucestershire.

Walks from the Site

We are so lucky here to have many beautiful walks. You can walk for miles around here, so this guide will just cover the local circular routes from the site. We would recommend you pick up an Ordnance Survey map of the area (OL14) so you can really explore everything on offer.

3 walking routes are included in the information pack, available from reception on arrival.
